Competitive Obedience Classes

Beginning Competitive Obedience 1 ($70)  Renee Baenen

Are you considering competing?  This beginner level class uses positive reinforcement to teach the skills to compete in beginning obedience:  heel, sit, down, stay, front, finishes, recalls.  The focus will be on using rewards to build incremental improvements.  This is not a pattern training class.  Handlers will also learn correct form, techniques, and AKC/UKC rules.  By the end of the class, handlers will be familiar with Beginner Novice obedience exercises (heel on leash, figure 8, sit/stay, recall, sit for exam).  Pre-requisite:  Dogs must be comfortable around people and dogs so they are ready for training and preferably know sit and down, and can walk on leash.  Limit 8 dogs.

Beginning Competitive Obedience 2 ($90)  Cindy Jones/Renee Baenen

This class continues what was learned in Beginning Competitive Obedience.  This is not a pattern training class.  Pre-requisite:  Dogs must have taken Beg Competitive Obedience or have instructor approval.  Limit 8 dogs.  No drop ins.

Competition Obedience Proofing ($70)   Marty Siegrist

Handlers will learn how to polish and proof skills that are used in all levels of competition, such as fronts, finishes, position changes, heeling, jumping, retrieving, stays and more. Individual exercises can be tailored to teams competing on all levels, from beginner novice to utility. Prerequisites: Dogs should be able to heel on-leash, come when called, and stay.

Advanced Obedience Skills ($90)          Cindy Jones

This class emphasizes advanced obedience training and continues where Positively Intermediate Obedience leaves off.  Training and proofing exercises are taught using Positive Training Reinforcement.  The class is designed for handlers who compete, as well as those that wish to improve the skills of their family dog.  Exercises include:  advanced heeling and recalls, jumps, advanced sits/downs/stays, introduction to the dumb bell, and sit/stand for exam.

Intermediate Obedience Skills ($70)    Linda Alkema

This class focuses on improving loose leash walking/heeling, recalls, and stays with distractions. Dogs should have passed a basic obedience class.
